configure created from autoconf differs from CVS configure

I find that the CVS configure differs from the configure created by autoconf
from the configure.in file.  In particular, the python target is not created
correctly using the CVS configure.  However, if I remove configure and run
autoconf to regenerate it, it creates the python target correctly.

Is this just a typo in the configure file?  Was it updated when configure.in
was modified?
