The versions available via CVS is the current developement version and
not the release version. I have noticed the latest version was not
correctly on sunsite. 3.0.8-rko is available on the alternate site

This is just modules way of telling you that it does not support aliases
in perl. Looking at the code you have found another error in that the
temp file that gets created does not get deleted in this case. Without
modifing your modulefiles you should be able to use the --silent flag
to suppress this warning message. If you want too modify your
modulefile (or .modulefilerc) you can add "module-log warn null"
Another question is should we get rid of this warning message? Only
csh and sh varients support aliases. We could document that fact and
get rid of the message.

This is a known bug in modules-3. It is on the slate of things to fix.
