an affliction that affects us all too often. :)

and another reason i love and promote here docs. i still don't see them
used enough. and long strings with q/qq are not as nice.

the one sometime negative about here docs is the trailing
newline. notice in my query_edit sub i chomp it and then add the "\n\t"
if needed to avoid a long line. so it is simple to workaround.
