This was shockingly painfree, and really just amounts to:

 s/open my $fh, .../my $fh = IO::File->new(...)/g

I hope it's useful

ps. When are we likely to see a new release?  The EXE_FILES shebang
rewrite fix you did the other week is very close to my heart.
