Webware and mod_snake are pretty different projects, since Webware is more of an appserver program than an Apache control piece (AFAICR). -- Jon On Sun, Aug 11, 2002 at 10:09:24AM +0200, Thomas Raschbacher wrote: > I just checked the Webware docs...they have similar(somewhat extended) > targets than mod_snake(u can use mod_snake with webware). > > anyone knowing if dev-effort could/should be combined?(who needs 3 python > mods for apache ;)) > > just my 2c > > greetings, LordVan > > > > -- > -----BEGIN GEEK CODE BLOCK----- > GCS/CC/E/M/MU/S d- s: a--- C++++(++) UL++++ P+ L++++ E W+++ N+++ o-- K w-- O > M-- V- PS+ PE-- Y++ PGP+++ t+++ 5+ X- R tv b++++ DI- D+ G++ e-->+++++ h-- !r > z- > ------END GEEK CODE BLOCK------ > > > ----------------------------------------- > This email was sent using SquirrelMail. > "Webmail for nuts!" > http://squirrelmail.org/ > > > > > ------------------------------------------------------- > This sf.net email is sponsored by:ThinkGeek > Welcome to geek heaven. > http://thinkgeek.com/sf > _______________________________________________ > Modsnake-devel mailing list > Mod...@li... > https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/modsnake-devel |

The mod_snake documentation has pretty good information about the lifecycle of a request. That translates pretty well into C code. You may also want to take a look at Doug MacEachern's book, "Writing Apache Modules in C & Perl" -- Jon On Thu, Aug 08, 2002 at 09:47:20AM +0200, Maik Hertha wrote: > thanks for your reply. i have no problems with that. > but i need a little help to start. are there any sheets how the module > process the apache request? > or what is the best way to start? > > thanks, maik. > > > It's up for anyone to take over. hi there; i've red in the latest apache2 book from peter wainwright (isbn 1-861007-22-1) about this module. i'm very surprised that nobody in this python world has the power the maintain this module. my personal comparision between mod_python and mod_snake tends more to mod_snake. like the php-language it is a more natural way while web development is done, to include script-languages in the html-code than to write specific programs that output html-code. so i would support any person whose able to develop this module. because i'm not a professional programer so my assistance would be only medium level. any ideas in this outer space how to start? have fun. maik |

There should be a mod_snake.py in your src directory. It imports mod_snakec which is the Swigged stuff. Swig generates this file, so I imagine there is something failing with that part of the build. -- Jon On Mon, May 13, 2002 at 08:58:25PM -0700, Jeff Davis wrote: > While building mod_snake under linux (apache 1.3.x) I do not end up getting a > mod_snake python module for some reason (no mod_snake.py or mod_snake.so). > The modules in snake_lib all import mod_snake so it seems important. > > Here's what I do to make it: > tar zxvf ../download/mod_snake-0.5.0.tar.gz > ./configure --with-apxs=/usr/bin/apxs > make install > > Is mod_snake (the python module, as a .py or a .so) supposed to be built from > those commands? While building mod_snake under linux (apache 1.3.x) I do not end up getting a mod_snake python module for some reason (no mod_snake.py or mod_snake.so). The modules in snake_lib all import mod_snake so it seems important. Here's what I do to make it: tar zxvf ../download/mod_snake-0.5.0.tar.gz ./configure --with-apxs=/usr/bin/apxs make install Is mod_snake (the python module, as a .py or a .so) supposed to be built from those commands? The mod_snake apache module seems to be built just fine. Thanks, Jeff |

I have taken up quite an interest in mod_snake. I am currently planning to try to take over the management of the project. I can't make much of a commitment yet, but I'd like to give it a go. Please, if you read this list I would appreciate a simple email letting me know that you're out there interested in mod_snake in some way (as a user or a developer). A simple "I use mod snake" would suffice, but if you have feature requests or ideas, that would be great. I am basically looking for some inspiration to try to revive the project. Developers are of course more than welcome. And if you think you're more qualified to do this than I, you're probably right, so step right up. Oh, and Jon, if you're still out there, how might I go about taking over the project? Sincerely, Jeff |

I no longer have the time or motivation to work on Mod Snake. It was a fun project, and I thank those who have supported me. The software will remain on the site, but I have no plans to maintain it. RIP - Mod Snake -- Jon |

I probably overlooked it in the documentation and it's dancing behind my eyes... but is there any way to get as well as set cookies, and retrieve form data in both normal GET and form POSTs? (as in file transfers). Thanks for your time, Greg. -- Greg Millam reklaw at deafcode.com |

This worked for me when I downloaded an earlier version of SWIG ( http://www.swig.org ), from the 1.3a* series, and not the latest version. As an example, I downloaded and installed 1.3a5 and things compiled smoothly....
