Mosaic freezes (sometimes) when resized. This seems related to graphics repaint operations, but unfortunately I haven't been able to copy the error message off the Java console once it froze. It causes an out-of-memory error.
This is possibly unrelatehttps://sourceforge.net/p/modnlp/plugins/tickets/d to the freeze, but a way to speed up the Mosaic generally might be to keep a general frequency list on memory (or on local, client-side, disk cache) accessible through the main browser (so other plugins can also use it, if needed) once a frequency list has been requested. This would reduce the traffic between the server and the client, and reduce the risk of deadlock (typical of combinations of network/graphics threads).

I have redownloaded the software this morning and just tried running a keyword search for "equality" having a selected a subcorpus of internet texts only (366 lines). I then opened the Mosaic plugin and although the Column frequency view loads fine, if I click on any of the tiles to the left or right of the keyword, the system freezes and I have to Ctrl Alt Delete to close down the session. The same crash happens if I click on any of the buttons at the top to see a different view and with every other keyword search I have tried so far.
Unfortunately the software crashes before any error is logged in the java console so I am unable to shed any light on why this might be happening. I can send you a screen recording video of this if that would be helpful.
Many thanks,
Henry

But I don't see the drop down menu within Mosaic. Is there a more up-to-date version of the browser and if so, do we have to update anything on the website to make this available for download?
Thanks,
Henry

Hi Henry, You may need to delete the old gok.jnlp files from your computer before you download the new software, Mona had a similar issue which was resolved by this process.
After you get the new versio to work can youcheck if any of the problems persist.
Cheers,
Shane

I've deleted all previous versions of gok.jnlp and the tecli.properties file on my PC and Mosaic is still not working nor does the drop down menu appear - Kamran and Jan can't seem to get the new version either.
Is there possibly another issue that might be causing the problem?
Thanks,
Henry

Hi Henry, I just downloaded it on a windows machine and the new version was there. Try clearing your web-browser cache maybe a cached version is being re-downloaded.
On windows the window kept expanding due to a resizing bug that i need to fix. However the dropdow was there. It is not visable in the green frequency mosaic only once you click on collocation strength. Image attached.
Thanks Shane, I think I understand now. I hadn't realised the dropdown menu was not visible in the green Column Frequency mosaic, only in the Collocation Strength view.
Unfortunately Mosaic crashes on my PC (due to the resizing bug) before I can click on the collocation strength button but at least this has solved the issue about whether or not I had the latest version of the software.
Many thanks,
Henry

I haven't been able to reproduce the freeze on the console (java -jar teccli.jar). It only seems to happen when in JNLP.
I am assigning this a low priority.

Hi Henry,
Can you make sure this is the new version, if you go tothe collocation strength view you should see a drop down box in the top right corner.
I had thought this bug was resolved and i can't reproduce it. Empty contexts were the problem and this search has an empty line.
If it is the latest version and the bug persists a video may be helpful.
Thanks,
Shane
Hi Shane,
I've downloaded what I thought was the latest version from the Software page of the website: v. 0.8.3.
But I don't see the drop down menu within Mosaic. Is there a more up-to-date version of the browser and if so, do we have to update anything on the website to make this available for download?
Thanks,
