I'm having a problem which might just be something ridiculously simple.
I've tried idx 0.8.3. and 0.8.4., but I get the same error when I try to run idx. It says Error: Index properties not set.
As far as I can see, I have changed the name of the idxmgr.properties file as instructed by the tutorial text. What do I need to do to get idx working?
I know this isn't much to go by; is there any more information I should provide?
Karl

I'm running windows 10 Enterprise, and I think that might be the problem. I have tried it on two computers, and encountered the same issue on both. On one of them I have administration rights. I ran Jarfix with the administrator account and that solved the issue. Now I'm looking for a work-around for the other computer. Or I'll try to index on the one that works and then move the corpus over.

OK. Things are working as they should now. If I may, I have another question. I'm using the guide provided by Sally Marshall for how to construct a local corpus. It offers a simple snippet to be placed at the start and end of the xml text files (see below). However, the part descriping how the hed-files should be structured is not included in the tutorial. I'm wondering how to write the hed-file to match the structure of the xml tagging.

I just tested 8.4 and didn't have the issue.
What operating system are you on?
the PLEASEEDIT part of the file should be removed leaving a file named idxmgr.properties
Are you navagating to the directory and on the comand line running
java -jar idx.jar
This should be all thats required to run the indexer
