unzipped everything under the directory Home / distribution /
    modfs-0.3_SNR_TEST_DGN3500_ONLY/ into a FAT32 USB flash drive.

http://192.168.0.1/shares/U/modfs_installer.cgi shows "Modfs auto boot installed."

    But can't access http://192.168.0.1:8081/

    Any idea?

PS. USB drive was formatted with HP formatting utility.

    1. You need to use custom firmware (DGN3500_16M-V1.1.00.33_MODFS.zip) for using modfs
    2. I intall modfs_image-0.3_DGN3500_TEST.zip and it is working

Yes. I have a Netgear DGN3500 DSL gateway and used
DGN3500_NA_16M-V1.1.00.30_MODFS.zip to upgrade the firmware. It seems I
succeeded on this, since after I access http://192.168.0.1/shares/U/modfs_ins
    taller.cgi
    shows "Modfs auto
    boot installed."

However I got a problem on the next step of installing
    modfs_image-0.3_DGN3500_TEST.zip from Home / distribution /
modfs-0.3_SNR_TEST_DGN3500_ONLY/ In theory, I should be able to access
    http://192.168.0.1:8081/, but I can't indeed.

Sorry. I don't see an option for modifying my previous posts. Anyway, please
let me update a little more on my situation.

Background. I have a Netgear DGN3500. This is a North America / USA version.

What I have done so far.

    1) I upgraded my DSL gateway with the custom firmware
    DGN3500_NA_16M-V1.1.00.30_MODFS.zip
    2) I have unzipped the following files into a FAT32 formatted USB stick and
attached it into the USB port of my DGN3500

    modfs_DGN3500_startkit_0.2.zip
    modfs_image-0.3_DGN3500_TEST.zip
    modfs_installer.zip

    The output is

    1) http://192.168.0.1/shares/U/modfs_installer.cgi shows "Modfs auto boot installed."
    2) When I tried to access http://192.168.0.1:8081 ,
    an error page was displayed.
    3) When I accessed http://192.168.0.1:8080 , a XML
    file was displayed.

meanwhile, I tried reboot my router multiple times with USB stick in. I have
enabled and shared the USB stick on my router.
