I've read in one closed ticket that it's possible with visual studio.
download the source, read on apache.org about compiling apache and it's modules (to understand the process overall) and then try to compile.

I'm facing the same issue, need to get this module working on apache 2.2.25 installed and running on server 2012, to authenticate vs AD 2012.

not much on google, but it's possible for those who will read the apache docs I guess :)
