    I think you can try with the "read-only" option and see if it works. It should dump out your mod32, then you can compare with the one from your other tool. I presume some HDD recovery expert directed you here? This tool will not fix your faulty hard disk. It will make changes to reduce/remove the time spent in hardware recovery attempts so that you can use other programs to copy/mirror your hard disk to another one, bit by bit.

    I have just finished reading the whole instruction and noticed this "Compatibility with SATA­to­USB adapters has not been tested." Do you have any advice whether should I go for it?     No, it should not. It only modifies the firmware. However, if the location of the firmware itself has deteriorated so much that any attempt to write to it will fail partially, then it might be possible to cause corruption. You're most welcome.
