Actually that was something I was doing when I had the following in my
source code, a while ago :
/**
* @version @version@
...
and Ant was replacing the token with the actual version.
I have now modified Cactus sources to be the standard (when using CVS) :
/**
* @version $Id: $
...
so, yes, I don't see a need to copy the source files before compiling
them, provided we use "$Id: $"
