As those of you who know me will no doubt be aware I'm the king of
slackness. As part of my duties as monarch I've been building up a load
of local changes to mock objects which I've never quite got around to
submitting as patches. This is now got a bit out of hand so I'm going to
start bundling things up and sending them your way. 

This first patch adds support for throwing exceptions when closing a sql
connection.
