Because our system is based on Ubuntu, what can run Ubuntu should be able to run our system.
General system requirements for installing Ubuntu Desktop Edition:
(taken from https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/SystemRequirements)

Internet access is necessary if installing from the network
General system requirements and recommendations for running MOBILE:

Problem Hardware | Description of Problem |
---|---|
Dell Inspiron Mini 1012 | Boots MOBILE but wireless network won't connect under MOBILE (missing driver?) |
Dell Latitude E5530 | USB drive seen to have "invalid partition" |
Dell XPS M1330 | boots from USB drive, but does not show available wireless options and thus could not connect to network |
some HP laptops | Several issues, but a number will not boot external USB drive |
e.g. HP Mini 5103 | Sees (in boot menu) but will not boot from external USB drive |
e.g. HP Elitebook 8560p | Hangs on boot from external USB drive |
some Mac laptops | General past restriction on booting non-Mac OS from USB drive under EFI |
e.g. a MacBook Pro (2013) | Sees external drive, but will not boot it |
Things to check:
- make sure USB boot is enabled in BIOS
- make sure USB boot is higher in order than hard drive boot
- if system supports EFI (Extensible Firmware Interface)/UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface), may need to go back to legacy mode if possible
