On FreeBSD, mozilla builds successfully using the mozilla-1.5 download plus the contents of mngzilla-cvs. But it does not display MNGs or JNGs. PNGs, JPEGs, and GIFs are fine. Evidently I failed to port some required "hook".
The "MNG restoration patch" from bug #18574 is supposed to restore the relevant code to its condition as of June 3. I have discovered that if I check out the June 3 version from CVS and build it, the MNG/JNG support is broken (acts the same as my current mngzilla). On the other hand, the June 2 version works OK. I'm now working with the 97-kbyte
"diff" of June 2 to June 3 to see if I can isolate the cause.
You seem to be very close. Good luck.
Currently MadmanNova (see http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=31424&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0\)
is toying with mngzilla in order to create W32 Firebird builds.
Nova has posted the patch to bugzilla (bug #18574)
and I have verified that it can be used to add MNG
capability to Mozilla-1.6a on the FreeBSD platform.
I've combined the patch with the files in the
mng subdirectories of libimg and libpr0n into a single
distribution, with a README, in the SourceForge File Distribution System, as *.tar.gz, *.tar.bz2, and *.zip
