Selfreferencing 1-N relations are currently indeed implemented by an unidirectional relationdefinition. When UML2MMBase was initially developed, this feature wasn't supported by MMBase. It only recently works properly in MMBase. I'll add it as an enhancement in the bug database.

When you create a bidirectional relation to self in Poseidon, uml2mmbase seems to turn it into a unidirectional relation.
