Tried to decode m2v files to Apple DV codec and
Motion JPEG A. When resulting file gets to over 2
gig (2140000K) in size the program halts with error
-50 in OSX.
This is a bug in OSX ... use a program to break the file into two or more parts, then stitch them together in QT Player. Annoying, yes, but it's not a bug from MM2D

This should not be the case in OSX. 10.0 and earlier had problems with files that were 4GB and larger. 10.1 did not have this limitation. Perhaps the limitation is in the codec... but that doesn't make any sense, because I know that MJPEG can handle larger files.
Oh, is it possible that you are trying to save the movie onto an HFS (not HFS+ drive)? That would explain this activity.
