Hi, I'd like to use mlterm while using irssi, but im having 2 issues until now: a) using alt+# ( 1 - 0 ) prints "?" in the text bar instead of changing channel. b) using alt+cursores <left/right/up/down> does nothing, the expected behaviour whould be to change channel. with urxvt|aterm this works fine. I have been reading the manual, but haven't found information regarding these issues. Maybe someone can point me at some document or tell me how I can "fix" this. Thanks. -- Nuno Alexandre |

hi, i use mlterm -j genuine, and then a lot of mlcients. the work great, except for the following bug: howto reproduce: 1. start mlterm -j genuine 2. start some mlclients 3. in one mlclient, start something, like "vim test.txt" 4. close that mlclient by closing it using the window-manager (alt-f4 usually) 5. now type 'exit'+<enter> in an other mlclient 6. it will display the content of the "vim test.txt" window before the closing 7. all the other mlclients behave like that from now on gabor |

The following way may help you. Hi, I like mlterm very much, especially since it supports variable-width fonts. I have a question, though. I have a vaafont file that looks like this: ISO8859_1=devon-iso8859-1 mlterm is reading the file OK, but seems to be using the font: -*-devon-medium-i-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-iso8859-1 instead of: -*-devon-medium-r-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-iso8859-1 I assume it is picking the italic (i) font because i comes before r alphabetically. There doesn't seem to be a place in the config anywhere to specify this "slant" attribute. How do I make mlterm use the r font in this case? Sincerely, Christian Smyth |

Yes, it is too hard. I designed the pluggable IM module API for mlterm without dependece on GTK+, since mlterm is not a GTK+ application. hi, as mlterm already uses gtk2... would it be hard to make it use the gtk2 input modules? it's nice that it can use uim natively, and i use that feature, but imho supporting the gtk2 input modules would bring a lot of input modes. ofcourse maybe it's impossible ;) thanks, gabor |

hi there, now, i already see the frowning faces because of the subject ;-) first of all, please cc: me, i am not on the list, and i am just "evaluating" mlterm. here are some issues which are not clear for me: 1. colorBD and colorUL. i read a lot man pages. colorBD and colorUL makes man pages much more readable. could this be implemented in mlterm? 2. i can't seem to set the color of the cursor in the config file, only using command line. is this intentional? 3. the encoding= parameter in the config file "main" seems to be ignored. i am using "mlterm version 2.8.0 patch level 1" thanks for your help, -f -- call me blind but i didnt see it coming. |

hi, another problem with uim=20 (i hope noone will get angry because these problems ;)) input mode uim... i am sometimes using slovak keyboard.... and there i can 'combine' the accent into the character, like i press '=3D' and then i press 'a', and i get [a'], ( [=C3=A1] if yo= u can read this correctly). when using mlterm with uim, i get ['a]. if i switch it to use XIM (with xim=3Dnone), it works correctly... i don't think this is a problem of uim, because when using uim module in gtk2, i can input accented chars in this combined way without problems.. but maybe i am wrong ;) thanks --=20 gabor <ga...@z1...> |

That is a bug. When mlterm with uim and japanese conversion engine are running in UTF-8, mlterm requires fonts for japanese character set. preedit and candidate strings are encoded in EUC-JP(native encoding of conversion engine). Please specify fonts for JISX0208_1978, JISX0208_1983 and JISX0208_1990 in .mlterm/*font. In the future, this problem will be fixed. Thanks for your report, again. -- Seiichi |

Fix has been committed to cvs just now. At this change, the conversion from X modifier key to uim key became the same as uim-xim and uim's immodule for gtk. Mod1 -> Alt Mod2 -> Meta Mod3 -> Super Mod4 -> Hyper Personally I think that this hard-coded mapping is not good, because modifier key mapping can be changed by xmodmap(1). Probably uim developers already understand it. Anyway, please retry the latest cvs version. Thanks for your report. -- Seiichi |

i experimented some more... if i use antialiased mode ( -A ), then i can specify this in ~/.mlterm/aafont: ISO10646_UCS4_1_BIWIDTH=Kochi Gothic-iso10646-1; and then it displays japanese symbols perfectly.. the problem is: i don't want to use antialiased fonts, because they're a lot slower, and also because my favourite font is not an antialiased one. so i tried to add something to ~/.mlterm/font, but with no luck: ISO10646_UCS4_1_BIWIDTH= -misc-kochi mincho-medium-r-normal--0-0-0-0- c-0-iso10646-; i cut&pasted this from a fonts.dir file ... problem is i have no idea how these files work ;) can mlterm use the xft/fontconfig based fonts? and do i need to use alias mode to use them? gabor -- gabor <ga...@z1...> |

You may need to recompile mlterm with '--enable-uim' For native uim support as below. $ make clean $ ./configure --enable-uim --OTHER-YOUR-FAVORITE-OPTIONS $ make # make install (as root) How to specify input method: uim with anthy engine $ mlterm --im=uim:anthy XIM with default XIM server $ mlterm --im=xim XIM with xcin on the current locale. $ mlterm --im=xim:xcin XIM with Ami on ko_KR.eucKR locale. $ mlterm --im=xim:Ami:ko_KR.eucKR Or add the following line into ~/.mlterm/main or <PREFIX>/etc/mlterm/main input_method = uim:anthy Also, you can dynamically change the input method and/or the conversion engine via external configuration tools such as mlconfig and mlterm-menu. > so: how is uim 'integrated' into mlterm? as loadable module. BTW, my TODO list for input method is: - rewrite the framework (I'm working for) - write documentations (not written yet) - iiimf support (help) Regards, -- Seiichi |

hi, i am learning japanese and trying to use mlterm.... (i decided to send many emails ..one for every problem, i hope it's better this way) fonts: somehow jpn-fonts look ugly. screenshots: http://z10n.net/mlterm.png http://z10n.net/xterm.png http://z10n.net/rxvt-unicode.png both xterm and rxvt-unicode jpn-fonts look readable.. it can very much be that i configured something wrong... so: how can i specify the font that i want to use? p.s: one question to native japanese users... what font size do you use? because for me it's always a problem, because the kanji are the same size as the latin letters, and for me at least they are quite hard to read at that size. but if i increase the font size, latin letters became veeery large ;) thanks -- gabor <ga...@z1...> |

hi, i am learning japanese, and trying to use uim with it... xim works, but for that i need to set up a japanese locale (i use uim- anthy). but i found that mlterm can use uim. can he use it directly (without xim?)? i tried...and cannot turn it on :) uim is activated with left-windows-key + space (Hyper + space in uim config file) but i cannot activate it in mlterm. so: how is uim 'integrated' into mlterm? thanks a lot -- gabor <ga...@z1...> |
