Thanks for the patch. I've tested it and it did fix the problem. It actually was the mouse wheel (mine is broken). From time to time it behaves erratically, randomly sending signals to the effect that it has been turned (although it hasn't), which triggered the buggy behaviour in mlterm. Most of the time it apparently didn't do anything (not even work) so I didn't suspect it. Time to buy a new mouse then :)
