I usually invoke xcompmgr _on_ mlterm.
Then, mlterm doesn't crash immediately.
(0) If I click mlterm just after xcompmgr starts, X dies.
(1) If I click some other application's window, nothing crashes.
So, the first-clicked window right after xcompmgr's start
is important (at least on my machine).

X.org: 6.8.1
xcompmgr: 1.1.1
mlterm: 2.9.1pre (with transparent background)
 imagelib=gdk-pixbuf2, enable-anti-aliase,
 enable-optimized-redrawing
