I am using OSX 10.2
% uname -a
Darwin [my hostname] 6.0 Darwin Kernel Version 6.0: Sat
Jul 27 13:18:52 PDT 2002;
root:xnu/xnu-344.obj~1/RELEASE_PPC Power Macintosh powerpc

I installed the .96j version of the driver, and
rebooted as requested. I started in Verbose mode (as
always), and the screen filled with a bunch of messages
of the form:

LoadHFS+ [some stuff]
LoadDriver: [file
\System\Library\Extensions\<whatever>.kext]
failed

note that this happened BEFORE the normal boot process,
so I can't get this off of dmesg.

After awhile of this, the Apple logo appeared on the
screen and it started the regular boot process.

When it was started up, it was running so slowly that
the machine was useless. I dragged my mouse in the
finder window, and after a full minute, the little
draggy-box had gone halfway to where I wanted it to go.
I clicked on some menu items, and the spinning
color-wheel appeared. The dock was not responding.

I restarted in safe mode (although I should've done
single-user!). I still got the "LoadDriver ... failed"
messages, but when the system started up, everything
was running full-speed. I punched up a terminal and
did "rm -r /System/Library/Extensions/swin3.kext" and
rebooted.

This time, I still got the "LoadDriver ... failed"
messages, but everything was running full-speed when it
finally got in. I hope I don't need those drivers!

My email address is rjhughes, of umich, in the edu domain.

Thank you.
