As described at http://www.teac.de/en/02_01_01_info/index.htm
there apparently exists a whole line of knock-off floppy drives.
This floppy driver has only been tested with floppy drives from
known manufacturers. As a result, it is incomplete.
We need to test this floppy drive with as many cheap clone drives
as possible in order to determine potential compatibility problems
down the road. Odds are, before long, well-known manufacturers
like Teac will stop making floppy drives, and at that point, only
junk part manufacturers will make floppy drives.
In short, if we want to have a floppy driver that continues to work
into the 22nd century, we absolutely MUST make certain that
these forged drives are compatible with future releases of our
software, if not for us, then for our children... and our children's
children... so that floppy driver software will be a right -- not a
privilege -- for many centuries to come.
