Briefly got a TDK floppy to mount on the desktop but system
was very unstable and I had to reboot. Afterward the "OS X
can't recognize.."
dialog box comes up. Keeping my fingers crossed.

After Rebuilding the desktop in OS 9 with Diskwarrior I
rebooted in X. After login I inserted a Mac formatted TDK
MF-2HD with some old data ( a Disk tool PPC OS 8.1 that I
made on 1-24-98) . It mounted in about a minute and a half.
I was able to see the data in the finder. I got carried away
with the success and tried to mount a second floppy. I got
the " unrecognized..." dialog. So it does work, just not
consistently.
BTW if I should use a IBM floppy would X recognize it?

Cool. You have a system that's actually "borderline". Most computers
with third-party upgrade cards just flat-out fail to work at all. If you could
turn on debugging (as described in the debugging page on darwin-
development.org) and insert a disk a few times, then turn debugging
back off, and attach the system log for that period of time to this bug, it
might prove helpful.

Hi David, I have upgraded my system to 10.2.1 on the
7300/G4. Will the
swim work with the new OS? I do not have a 10.1.5 partition
any more.
If you think so let me know and I'll give it a shot.

It will work, but you need to download 0.96j instead of 0.96. I had to
recompile it to make it load correctly on Jaguar. Not sure why, and it
really wasn't worth investigating much since I no longer have a way to
build the thing for Puma anyway....

Is the KEXT already loaded? That's the only reason I can think of that
root couldn't load it....
Was the TDK floppy PC or Mac formatted? Double or high density?
