Hi, Mixxx 2.2.2 has been released and is available on the download page: https://www.mixxx.org/download/ This release includes many stability and usability fixes. Please note that we had to disable writing of file tags for .ogg files with the current TagLib version 1.11.1 that would otherwise corrupt your precious files. Upgrading from version 2.2.1 is strongly recommended. The Changelog with a detailed list of changes can be found here: https://github.com/mixxxdj/mixxx/blob/2.2/CHANGELOG I want to thank all contributors who have made this release possible, by spending a huge amount of their spare time working on Mixxx for free. If you are interested to help as well, or have you favorite feature realized, say hello at https://mixxx.zulipchat.com/ Best regards, Daniel |

For users who have had trouble with version 2.2, we have been continuing to support version 2.1 with minor updates like this. We still recommend version 2.1 for users on MacOS, Windows XP, or Ubuntu Trusty. Go get it: https://mixxx.org/download/#previous <https://t.co/cWh9Unr9tu?amp=1> |

Hi Mixxx users on Mac, We are fighting a hard to catch bug with dropping tracks from finders. We have prepared a 2.1.8 release candidate with more debug info: http://downloads.mixxx.org/builds/2.1/release/mixxx-2.1.8-2.1-release-macintel64-latest.dmg please test "drag and drop" from various sources. Please test tracks that are in the library and tracks which are not by e.g. duplicate an existing track on the hd first. If something fails please quit Mixxx and send the mixxx.log to me. https://www.mixxx.org/wiki/doku.php/finding_the_mixxx.log_file If you discover other issues, please report as well. Thank you for you help. Kind regards, Daniel |

Hi Darren, We have found the issue. We are working on a release. Hi Darren, I guess that is caused by a faulty track. Can you recall which track the Auto DJ was trying to load when the crash happens? I think it is still listed as #1 under the pop-up. Does it also crash when you load this track manually? Please post the mixxx.log from the crashing run. By luck it is still there with a number prefix. https://www.mixxx.org/wiki/doku.php/finding_the_mixxx.log_file Kind regards, Daniel Darren Oliver via Mixxx-devel <mix...@li...> schrieb am Mo., 25. Hello. I'm without sight so i can't tell my friend what is wrong, but he seems to be having problems with the mic volumes on the later editions of mixxx. Even with his realtech mic volume boosted to full volume, He seems to struggle getting enough volume on it to trigger the ducking feature when he speaks. I to have noticed that i have problems with the volume of the mic. I'm using a headset mic so i don't get the same loudness issues, but barely. I've attached a screen shot. if anyone can maybe figure out what he did wrong or what we could do to change things. I'd love to know as well as i can't manipulate mic gain to suit my requirements. Hi Javor, using gRPC for IPC wouldn't surprise me, we already discussed isolating components of Mixxx into separate processes to avoid crashing the main process, i.e. for decoding files. But unfortunately Mixxx is still a monolithic application and we don't use gRPC. What we are using is Protobuf for serializing beat grids and musical key information. Please join the discussion on https://mixxx.zulipchat.com/ if you have any question. The mailing list is only used for announcements. Hi. I recently started to try to write code for Mixxx. And I recognize that I'm somehow lost. The class hierarchy is difficult to follow and I have found no documentation on it. But I can follow in the code, so no major problem. The last surprise has been the use gRPC. I have read on the gRPC web site and seems more or less clear what is it. But I wonder why we are using a remote procedure call technology on Mixxx. Can someone clarify that for me? Thanks in advance!! Javor |

Hi Javi, you can call you branch as you like. In general you should branch from the HEAD of the lowest effected branch if unsure. This way we can finally decide just before merge in which branch the bug should go. If it is obvious that it will go to 2.3, you can branch from master. The only etiquette rule we have, is not to rebase if a review is in progress. Thank you for picking up a bug. Hi! We name release branches and tags specifically, but you can name your own branches whatever you like :). It's nice if they have a descriptive name like "fix-foo-bug". For 2.3.0, there is no release branch yet so you would branch from master. For 2.2.0, branch from the "2.2" branch since it has already been cut from master. Hi. Just a fast question. Any etiquette rule on how to name GIT branches? And from where to branch? I mean, the bug I want to work on has been assigned to milestone 2.3.0. Do I branch from master or do I branch from somewhere else? Thanks in advance :) Javi |

Hi. Just want to say hello to all of you. I'm new on Mixxx development. Some details about myself: I used to be a developer. My experience includes C, C++, PHP, JScript plus some other esoteric languages, mainly in Unix and Linux environments and mainly as a system developer. Not so much experience on user graphical programs. But I stopped programming professorially 15 years ago when I started to be a manager instead of a developer. 10 year ago I moved to other kind of life in international cooperation (a lot more rewarding, by the way) and 3 years ago I moved again to management of IT projects for NGO's. That means that my development skills are a little bit rusty ;) I also used to be a semi profesional DJ back at the end of the 70's (yes, I have some age). I have always had music as one of my main hobbies and have been using Mixxx since 7 or 8 year ago. I have taken the ownership of the bug "#1128005 Emphasize the downbeats of a track by a separate marker on the waveform" as my first bug. I like the functionality proposed :) I'm new to GIT, and to Qt so is going to take some time until I really become productive. And probably I will need to place questions in the list to be able to advance. Thanks in advance for your patience. Ah! And English is not my mother tongue, so please excuse my mistakes on it also. Thanks :) |

Tried the recommended actions for setting up the alpha version of mixxx 2.2, but still didn't run. However we got it up and running when i gave them the executable file from my file folder to replace the application file in the program files folder. It worked. If anyone has access to the accessibility directories from qt5 i would really appreciate it as i suspect that may be what is improving the screen reader performance in mixxx alpha development builds. Hi Developers, the original release-2.1.2 tag and tar ball link are accidentally pointing the master branch. This is fixed now. If you have already fetched from upstream, please call: git tag -d release-2.1.2 git fetch upstream to fix this is your local repo as well. I am sorry for this. Hi Ron, Glad to hear that Mixxx became usable for you at some point. Regarding the installation problem of your friend, it seems that the installation program cannot escalate privilege to install as administrator, either due to UAC has been disabled or your antivirus program is blocking th installer. Either turn on UAC, disable your antivirus during installation or execute the installation program as Administrator (right click -> run as Administrator) Please report if you manage to get Mixxx installed and what was the exact problem (if it is the anti-virus, please report the antivirus program that block Mixxx installation) Best regards, Sébastien Le 12/08/2018 à 17:30, ron camron via Mixxx-devel a écrit : > Hello Developers. Hello Developers. I am currently runny mixxx 2.2 alpha development version and i rather like it. A pivital improvement in screen reader accessibility has made it the must use version for me. I can now read file information using jaws screen reader. Something i was not able to do before. However another dj friend of mine tried running the same software and encountered problems. We are both running windows 10 64bit edition. Yet he encounters problems where i don't. I will copy in the log file that mixxx brings up when trying to instal. I will copy it in to the message.
