I have pushed the changes required to support Speak and Play events to my android application to the insteon branch. If someone needs those changes in the trunk, let me know and I'll send you patches to test as I don't run the trunk, so, have no good means to test. I had to redesign how Speak and Play go to audreys such that I could use the same generated audio file shared between audrey and android, and now for that matter, any number of interfaces. I used both android and audrey here and I haven't had an issue for the past week. Please let me know if you have issues with your audreys for Speak and Play and I will fix anything I broke. I expect this to be a seamless change. I made changes to mh/bin/mh (minor), lib/Voice_Text.pm, code/common/audreyspeak.pl, and code/common/android_server.pl is new. If you enable the android_server.pl code module, I expect Speak and Play events to go to your android devices. I do know that this works fine for Gingerbread. It does not however work for Froyo, at least not on the Froyo phone I have. I'm having some issues with the android audio player with Froyo that I haven't resolved yet. Regards, Jim |

Jim, Good to hear that you have the speak part available as well. Please sent me or post the patches somewhere. I am running the trunk so I like to test it out too. If it works I can merge your changes in the trunk cvs later if that's okay. I would like you to test them first. Thank you for doing this. You can push the changes or let me know they work and I will push them. I have attached the changes to this posting. The mh, and mh.ini files go into the bin directory. The Voice_Text.pm file goes into the lib directory. The audreyspeak.pl and android_server.pl files go into the code/common directory. You'll need to svn add android_server.pl. Regards, Jim |

Jim, Thanks for the code files. I replaced/added these files in my trunk code dir and misterhouse still seems to work fine. No issues until now. Speech itself however doesn't seem to work. I can see that my server now listens on port 4444 I have enabled the android_server.pl code and also the test_tagline.pl code to generates some speech every minute. With my packet sniffer I don't see any traffic for port 4444 for now. I can generate wav files from manually entered speech text so I am sure the TTS part is working. Do I need the audrey code for speech to the Android ? Anyway I think it's save to push your changes to the trunk svn as well. Please let me know if speech is already supposed to work and/or what might be missing here. I am happy to test it out. I did all my tests with the lates APK on my local LAN over wifi, toggle lights etc. still works fine for me. Update ! I installed your latest apk from scratch and recreated my host. Now i can see in the adb logcat that it no longers uses 192.168.1.28:8080 but 192.168.1.28 and it creates a socket connection. This already looks better. Then I restarted misterhouse but this caused some loop in your code i believe, now my logcat only shows the following lines : V/MisterhouseService(24159): waiting for command from server ... (1000000000 times) Even if i kill your app these lines keep on coming. I will reboot my phone now :-) Regards, Nico 2012/2/5 Nico Lembrechts <nic...@gm...> > Jim, > > It already goes wrong with the connection apparently : > > V/HttpProcessor(23792): Trust Manager Success! > V/Misterhouse(23792): updateService > V/Misterhouse(23792): ServiceStart > V/MisterhouseService(23792): isRunning true > V/MisterhouseService(23219): onBind > V/Misterhouse(23792): updateService > V/Misterhouse(23792): ServiceStart > V/MisterhouseService(23219): handleMessage > V/MisterhouseService(23219): handleMessage host: 192.168.1.28:8080 port: > 4444 useSSH: false sshUser: sshPass: muteAudio: false > V/MisterhouseService(23219): creating a new clientSocket > V/MainItemAdapter(23792): getView: Main.data > V/MainItemAdapter(23792): new view > V/MainItemAdapter(23792): getView: Main.data > V/MainItemAdapter(23792): new view > I/ActivityManager( 151): Displayed > com.example.android.misterhouse/.activity.Misterhouse: +494ms > V/MisterhouseService(23219): Could not open socket on host: > 192.168.1.28:8080 port: 4444 > V/MisterhouseService(23219): creating a new clientSocket > V/MisterhouseService(23219): Could not open socket on host: > 192.168.1.28:8080 port: 4444 > D/dalvikvm(22733): GC_EXPLICIT freed 14K, 50% free 2870K/5639K, external > 0K/0K, paused 56ms > V/MisterhouseService(23219): creating a new clientSocket > V/MisterhouseService(23219): Could not open socket on host: > 192.168.1.28:8080 port: 4444 > D/dalvikvm(23309): GC_CONCURRENT freed 478K, 44% free 3983K/7047K, > external 0K/0K, paused 2ms+12ms > V/MisterhouseService(23219): creating a new clientSocket > V/MisterhouseService(23219): Could not open socket on host: > 192.168.1.28:8080 port: 4444 > D/dalvikvm(23229): GC_CONCURRENT freed 427K, 45% free 3732K/6727K, > external 0K/0K, paused 2ms+3ms > V/MisterhouseService(23219): creating a new clientSocket > V/MisterhouseService(23219): Could not open socket on host: > 192.168.1.28:8080 port: 4444 > V/MisterhouseService(23219): creating a new clientSocket > V/MisterhouseService(23219): Could not open socket on host: > 192.168.1.28:8080 port: 4444 > D/dalvikvm(22619): GC_EXPLICIT freed 786K, 45% free 5017K/8967K, external > 15575K/15582K, paused 82ms > V/MainItemAdapter(23792): onClick: Main.data > V/Misterhouse(23792): showProgress > V/MisterhouseService(23219): creating a new clientSocket > V/MisterhouseService(23219): Could not open socket on host: > 192.168.1.28:8080 port: 4444 > D/dalvikvm(23792): GC_EXTERNAL_ALLOC freed 53K, 49% free 2762K/5379K, > external 514K/519K, paused 33ms > V/XmlProcessor(23792): Execute url: > http://192.168.1.28:8080/sub?xml(types,fields=states) tag: type > D/dalvikvm(23792): GC_CONCURRENT freed 122K, 47% free 3032K/5639K, > external 608K/1035K, paused 2ms+2ms > V/XmlProcessor(23792): Execute complete with 15 entries. > V/GenericItemAdapter(23792): skipping item Enigma2_Item GENERICITEM > V/GenericItemAdapter(23792): skipping item File_Item GENERICITEM > V/GenericItemAdapter(23792): skipping item Process_Item GENERICITEM > V/GenericItemAdapter(23792): skipping item Timer GENERICITEM > V/GenericItemAdapter(23792): skipping item XML::Simple GENERICITEM > V/GenericItemAdapter(23792): skipping item xAP_Item GENERICITEM > V/MisterhouseAdapter(23792): registerForContextMenu > V/Misterhouse(23792): dismissProgress > V/TypesAdapter(23792): objectName: EIB1_Item > V/GenericItemAdapter(23792): AdapterType name: EIB1_Item > V/TypesAdapter(23792): objectName: EIB7_Item > V/GenericItemAdapter(23792): AdapterType name: EIB7_Item > V/TypesAdapter(23792): objectName: Generic_Item > V/GenericItemAdapter(23792): AdapterType name: Generic_Item > V/TypesAdapter(23792): objectName: Group > > I am running Android version 2.3.7 > # uname -a > Linux localhost 2.6.32.9-perf #221 PREEMPT Wed Sep 28 13:49:35 NZDT 2011 > armv7l GNU/Linux > > I hope this helps. > Regards, > Nico > > 2012/2/4 Jim Duda <ji...@du...> > >> On 02/04/2012 07:37 AM, Nico Lembrechts wrote: >> > Jim, >> > >> > Thanks for the code files. I didn't used any TTS before so I quickly did apt-get install flite on my mh server to test out the speech capabilities. > Nico, Well, a few things we can try. Unfortunately, I don't have any experience with flite. It's possible flite doesn't work will with the audrey/android voice generation to_file method and we've never know. I don't have a means of testing it. You can try adding this in your mh.private.ini file: Android_speak_sync=1 I assume you don't use any Audrey devices then? You could turn on debug=android, voice and give me more debugging information. You could try using festival instead of flite. I believe the mh installation instructions help you out with documentation. mh/doc/mh.txt. Are you using Windows or Linux? Regards, Jim |
