 [misterhouse-users] Qs about Items.mht and floorplan.pl From: Ernie Oporto - 2003-12-24 19:29:19 ```A few Qs about items.mht and floorplan.pl... 1. I've done a basic layout of items.mht for floorplan.pl, and if you = load the code below you can see my little home has some odd shapes in there. = Is it possible to define a room as being multiple shapes and concatenate = the shapes in order to define a slightly more complex shape of a room? This would be good for an L-shaped hallway. 2. Is it possible to define multiple instances of the same room? This = would be useful for stairways on a multifloor layout. 3. Is it possible to define a room within a room, which would be good = for laying stairways and closets. My basement is simply one giant = semi-finished open space with a stairway in it. 4. Related to #3, would it be possible to define a zone with rooms = inside of it, such that you define First_Floor, and then the rooms of the = First_Floor are within that zone? ------------------------ GROUP, Kitchen_Dining, Property(0;4;19;11) GROUP, Computer_Room, Property(0;15;9;8) GROUP, First_Bath, Property(9;15;4;8) GROUP, Living_Room, Property(0;23;13;12) GROUP, First_Hallway, Property(13;15;3;20) GROUP, First_Closet, Property(16;32;3;3) GROUP, Front_Porch, Property(12;35;4;4) GROUP, Back_Porch, Property(12;0;4;4) GROUP, First_Stairs, Property(16;15;3;17) GROUP, Basement, Property(23;4;19;31) #GROUP, Basement_Stairs,Property(39;19;3;10) GROUP, Master_Bedroom, Property(48;4;17;12) GROUP, Master_Closet, Property(46;4;2;12) GROUP, Secnd_Bath, Property(46;16;12;6) GROUP, Secnd_Stairs, Property(62;20;3;9) GROUP, Secnd_Hall, Property(58;16;7;4) GROUP, Kids_Room, Property(46;22;16;13) GROUP, Kids_Closet, Property(63;29;2;6) X10I, A2, livingroom_light, Living_Room X10I, A3, kidsroom_light, Kids_Room X10I, A4, porch_light, Back_Porch|Front_Porch X10I, A5, comproom_light, Computer_Room X10I, A6, baby_monitor, Living_Room|Master_Bedroom X10I, B8, basement_light, Basement X10MS, A8, basement_movement, Sensors|Basement, MS13 X10I, BA, xmas_light1, Kitchen_Dining X10I, BD, xmas_light2, Kitchen_Dining X10I, BE, xmas_tree, Living_Room X10I, L1, masterbedroom_light, Master_Bedroom X10I, P2, front_door, X10I, P3, back_door, ```

You can stack "blocks", but they wont share co-ordinates between them and there is no way currently to "hide" a wall. > 2. Is it possible to define multiple instances of the same room? You can establish multiple relationships of objects within different groups. (ie. Add more than one object or group to multiple other groups) I am still in design/experiment phase on a Java applet to replace the floorplan.pl code that will do polygons and async upates, but at the rate Im going with projects lately, probably wont be in the MH distro any time soon. I am actively working on a robotics project (re-doing a Hero-I with an ITX MB) with my son and that is taking up my "constuctive" spare time now. I wish I could make a fulltime job out of my hobbies ;) -J ```

I don't know the answer to your question, but in my case I didn't make the hallway a room at all. I just left it an empty space in the middle of the house. I then locate the light relative to the property as a whole and not any particular room. -- Kirk Bauer http://linux.kaybee.org | http://www.autorpm.org | http://www.logwatch.org ```
