I just "got with the program" and installed 2.103 (I unzipped into my existing MH install) and started getting the following error: 03/27/07 03:13:17 PM: Undefined subroutine &X10_Item::self called at ../lib/X10_Items.pm line 244. I looked at X10_Item and on 244, the line started with &self, not $self, which looked to me like a typo (or is there a self subroutine that I missed???) SO... I changed &self to $self and things seem to work except that the MH window (the non-tk window) now shows: Error, X10 interface not found: interface=Serial_Item=HASH(0xd71be08), data=XNJ when I set a light from the GROUPS dropdown. The lights appear to be setting correctly. I've added this to my ini: x10_interface=Lynx10PLC any thoughts? -- s:r { scott reston http://scott.therestons.com scott at therestons * com } |

Hmm.. I took a look in my items.mht and the light that caused the error was defined as "preset2". I changed it to preset and it seems to work just fine. The weird thing is is that I've got 2 lights in that room, one's a "LM14-style" preset, one's a switchlinc. MH seems to know the available states for each even though in my items.mht, they're both listed as "preset". Did some code get added that queries switches to check available states? Is that even possible?? Thanks! scott Scott Reston wrote: > I just "got with the program" and installed 2.103 (I unzipped into my > existing MH install) and started getting the following error: > > 03/27/07 03:13:17 PM: Undefined subroutine &X10_Item::self called at > ../lib/X10_Items.pm line 244. > > I looked at X10_Item and on 244, the line started with &self, not $self, > which looked to me like a typo (or is there a self subroutine that I > missed???) > > SO... From: "Scott Reston" <sc...@th...> > Hmm.. I took a look in my items.mht and the light that caused the error > was defined as "preset2". I changed it to preset and it seems to work > just fine. I think that bug is already fixed in svn. I'm probably the one who introduced it. I can send you the latest X10_Items.pm to test. Are you willing to do that? The only difference between the preset2 option and the lm14 (aka preset) option is this bit of code: # Some presetable devices, like the Leviton 6381, will remain addressed # after a preset command and will accept subsequent unrelated # commands unless they are set to ON. if ($preset2 and $state =~ /^\d+\%$/) { &set($self, 'on'); } This means if you have a leviton switch (not defined as preset2) at A1 and another switch at A5, and you set the leviton to 50% then turn off the other light, both will turn off. > The weird thing is is that I've got 2 lights in that room, one's a > "LM14-style" preset, one's a switchlinc. If so, would you try the scenario above with your current configuration and report the results. If it fails (both lights go off), we can see if the current software fixes it. > Did some code get added that queries switches to check available states? > Is that even possible?? It is easy to setup a script that sends out a STATUS command to each of your two-way switches periodically, but this isn't necessary. The switchlinc switches normally report their status whenever you set them manually. I suspect the leviton switches act the same way. I think the lynx10plc is the only x10 interface module in misterhouse that can interpret these extended data status reports. Are your manual switch changes not getting reflected in misterhouse? The ATNGW100 has just about all the I/O anyone can want for $70. I read somewhere this little guy can even play stereo mp3's with 30% CPU utilization. Im trying to find a place to purchase this, but havent found anywhere obvious (anyone?) http://www.avrfreaks.net/wiki/index.php/Documentation:NGW/NGW100_Hardware_reference |

digikey.com has that part number listed. Let us know how it goes if you get one. Thanks, Greg > The ATNGW100 has just about all the I/O anyone can want for $70. Is this just a board? if so, where would one find a housing for it? Ok, I'll admit, how do you use it, loading OS etc? Thanks. Just the board. I guess I just shove it in a rad shack enclosure box with a 12V PS and fan. It has Linux 2.6.18 loaded on it already with busybox and some other generic apps (web, samba, tftp, etc) On the wiki are compiler tools to cross build any other software that is needed and imagine I would just shove a 1GB SD card into it to run the software from: Hopefully perl--misterhouse, some C programs Ill write to access the GPIO pins, and probably madplay for mp3 music and announcments. According to what I am reading these things are heavily backordered right now. -J On Sat, 31 Mar 2007, Tradewinds wrote: > Is this just a board? if so, where would one find a housing for it? I have a Neoware Eon in my livingroom, connected to my tv and surround sound for streaming wireless audio/video and web browsing / mh control. It is a similar, ultra small, appliance. 800Mhz Epia w/ 256 DoM IDE Flash drive, 512MB RAM and I've added a PCMCIA controller with a 2GB PCATA drive. I'm running Damn Small Linux at the moment, although I have had it to run PXE thin boot 2xThinOS from a FreeNX server. It works very nicely, I think the VIA C3 has some onboard media decoding chips as well that help crunch the video streaming data. -James > > The ATNGW100 has just about all the I/O anyone can want for $70. Unless this board is different than other similar boards that I've looked at and played with, keep in mind that some of the software you'd want to run would have to be modified substantially to reduce the number of writes to the flash memory. With all the logging and other memory/disk writing that goes on with a typical linux box, you'll quickly exceed the number of writes that a typical flash card can tolerate before it will fail. As I understand it, there are some new flash memory devices on the market that are designed for such uses, but I believe they are still pretty expensive. One way people work around this limitation is by setting up one or more ramdisks. All my 1-wire temperature and humidity stuff runs on a modified Linksys WRT54GS router running OpenWRT. See: http://owfs.sourceforge.net/WRT54G.html So, it IS possible to work around some of the memory write limitations I'd like to try something like this for MH myself, and I have a Soekris board running Pyramid Linux, but I can't even seem to get NTP to run successfully so far, so MH is a LONG way off. :) Gary Jason Sharpee wrote: > Just the board. I have some pretty good experience with this as I created a complete distro for the websurfer's that runs completely read-only from its DOC flash disk. It isnt all that hard to configure posix software to avoid writes to disk. Im familiar with the 54G distro configurations as well which just make use of a small ramdisk for /tmp and /var, and configure syslog to report via UDP. Additionally what is nice about this board, is that it has a USB 2.0 port and usbstorage drivers included. It even has an LCD video controller integrated! -J On Sat, 31 Mar 2007, Gary Sanders wrote: > Unless this board is different than other similar boards that I've > looked at and played with, keep in mind that some of the software you'd > want to run would have to be modified substantially to reduce the number > of writes to the flash memory.
