This severely broke me when I first install and ran 2.82 because the
volume was turned downed to 0 on the sound card not being used by MH.
The funny part was that I didn't see this in the Windows volume Control
program and it took me a while to find it.
Line 60 of mh_sound.pl looks like it was changed to say if
(defined($state) which would come back to be true because of the set
line above. Since this statement was true, it when ahead and set my
volume to 'blank' since there was no value for $state (probably because
I don't have this set in the .ini file.
In my case, I change that line 60 back to just if ($state... So that it
would not execute what was in the statements below.

Subject: [misterhouse-users] Volume set to zero on startup - Linux RH8
mh (haven't tested mhe) sets the master volume to zero each time
it loads (however, nothing changes on mh reload). I'm running mh v2.82=20
on RH8 and didn't notice this problem until moving to mh v2.82. My=20
Perl skills are less than great; so, I wasn't able to tell from looking=20
at mh_sound.pl (where volume appears to get set) whether there may=20
exist some mh.private.ini parameter to initialize the master volume. =20
I'm getting by for now by resetting master volume via aumix.
