OK, I'm a total Audrey newbie, but I did succeed in the upgrading process just this week. Be sure, after you enter the DNS and set the time, when you set the first update time, that you uncheck the broadband checkbox, otherwise it updates every 30 minutes. There are like four or five updates; just keep doing the TFS (browser, option, mail) and watch for that "checking for software updates" Eventually you get the "Software is up-to-date" message; don't quit until you get that message. I couldn't get the updates until I blocked the ports for timeservices at the router...Ports 13 and 37 I believe. Don't know why this worked, but I'd tried to get updates for two days before I finally tried blocking the timeserver ports...It successfully updated immediately after I blocked the ports and restarted the update. I haven't done an update yet and don't have a CF adapter. But you have given me an idea, to try just using a dial-up connection. Unfortunately all my ISPs have phone numbers which are one digit too long. Do any English users know of a dial-up ISP with a 0207 or 0208 phone number, so I can drop the 020 prefix? Clive |

I only could get my Audreys to update when I connected them directly to the cablemodem thus without using my firewall in between. Has to do with the Marimba ports I think. A bit odd you had to block some ports to get it to work. My /etc/services says: time 37/tcp timserver time 37/udp timserver Note the missing e in timserver, it's because there is an official timed timeserver also, which this isn't. There is some server code to run in w2k, haven't found any unix code.. I had the same experience in that I had to connect to Audrey to directly to the cable modem. Worked just as advertised after that. That's as far as I've gotten (or likely to get for a while). New baby girl in the household. Hobbies will be taking a backseat for a while.
