Unfortunately I have "deactivated" the "restore the previous configuration" function to save precious HD space. ...and the COM1 port is there (unlike Com2), MH just can't access it - so reinstalling it probably won't help. Btw: I did run Linux on my old machine until it broke down completely and I *must* run Windoze on this, because of my work, so - basically I'm f-cked! :-) (though XP has run non-stop without *any* problems... ...until now) /Ulrik --- Message: 1 Subject: Re: [misterhouse-users] Can't open device: COM1 From: Scott Johnston <sc...@sc...> On Fri, 2003-04-25 at 13:26, Ulrik Borg wrote: > ...and security updates can't be uninstalled... > ...any suggestions? > You mean besides switching to Linux? :) Seriously, if you are fortunate enough to be on XP you can do that roll back thingy to restore the previous configuration. That saved my butt a few times. Or you might try the system hardware config screen. Maybe the com port got deinstalled or something. I've sometimes gotten things to work by removing the device from there then doing a "Add New Hardware" to have it probe for it again. Scott |
