The group module wants to send something like A1A2AJ. To be consistent with the CM11 module, the Lynx10plc should accept each of the three commands separately, so we don't need a kludge in serial item. Other strings to test include AO (some modules incorrectly prepend a unit command) and M1APRESET_DIM1 (some modules incorrectly insist the two housecodes match). I can get her to read the current weather forecast from the console but when I try to do the same thing remotely, she won't create the .wav file. Like I said before, she actually DOES create a wav file but it's only 46 bytes. What information can I provide to help figure this out? I've been struggling with this all day and just can't figure out why she won't talk remotely. |

I'm liking the idea more and more of creating a weather object - that = knows about the past, current, and forcast conditions and then has various = methods of being updated - including new ones that someone may like to write = like an RSS feed, and methods for query, tests, etc. I wonder if the RSS content has a defined and limited syntax - that's = what attracts me to METAR and TAF since they must follow a precise syntax it = will be more reliable (also more limited). I've also been wondering about Doppler Radar analysis - I wonder if = there is anyway to take advantage of that. Anyhow thanks for the link. Hi guys, So, I just got my W800 yesterday, and installed it this morning. WOW!! This thing is amazing, and my wireless response time is great! One thing I have having trouble with is a way to implement bright/dim with the palm pads through the W800. From debugging, I can see that the W800 sends a XAL for bright and XAM for dim (assuming housecode 'A'). What I am not having luck with is capturing the "Previous units" from the last X10 item to use in conjunction with the bright/dim commands. Here is what I am testing right now... -----8<----- $palmpad_01 =3D new Serial_Item('XA1AJ', ON); $palmpad_01 ->add('XA1AK', OFF); $palmpad_01 ->add('XAL', BRIGHTEN); $palmpad_01 ->add('XAM', DIM); $palmpad_02 =3D new Serial_Item('XA2AJ', ON); $palmpad_02 ->add('XA2AK', OFF); $palmpad_02 ->add('XAL', BRIGHTEN); $palmpad_02 ->add('XAM', DIM); if (state_now $palmpad_01 eq ON) { set $Entertainment_Center_Lamp ON; } if (state_now $palmpad_01 eq OFF) { set $Entertainment_Center_Lamp OFF; } if (state_now $palmpad_01 eq DIM) { set $Entertainment_Center_Lamp -10; } if (state_now $palmpad_01 eq BRIGHTEN) { set $Entertainment_Center_Lamp +10= ; } if (state_now $palmpad_02 eq ON) { set $Couch_Lamp ON; } if (state_now $palmpad_02 eq OFF) { set $Couch_Lamp OFF; } if (state_now $palmpad_02 eq DIM) { set $Couch_Lamp -10; } if (state_now $palmpad_02 eq BRIGHTEN) { set $Couch_Lamp +10; } -----8<----- Now, when I press 1/ON on the palm pad, the E.C. Lamp turns on, which is fine. Likewise when I press 2/ON for the Couch Lamp. However, when I then press the dim button, the log shows that a XAM is received and BOTH lights dim. Likewise for bright with XAL. When I change the palm pad to the actual housecode for those lamps (B) and bypass my script, I can see from the log that there is a "X10: Previous units=3DB3 reset_flag=3D1" line that indicates which unit is to receive the bright/dim command. How can I replicate this behavior with my module? The reason that I am using a custom module is because I want to control multiple housecodes =66rom the one palm pad (using 'A') without having to fiddle the housecode dial... a 'relay' of sorts. Thanks guys. --=20 Mike Oliver, KI4OFU [see complete headers for contact information] |

Steve, I would create a voicecommand that executes your lights tuning off (even though you may never want to use voice to trigger - the voice command is = the basic macro that integrates with everything else). Troy/David, I believe that the current Lynx10PLC.pm does accept single commands like "XA1", "XB1" etc without the action "ie XAK". Your last command would although have to be a pair "ie. XA2AJ". Here is a test piece of code to prove the above statement: if ($Startup||$Reload||$New_Minute) { print_log "Sending A1"; Lynx10PLC::cmd2payld "XA1","none"; print_log "Sending A2AK"; Lynx10PLC::cmd2payld "XA2AK","none"; print_log "Sending A3"; Lynx10PLC::cmd2payld "XA3","none"; print_log "Sending AK"; Lynx10PLC::cmd2payld "XAK","none";} It yields this response: 04/30/06 06:19:13 AM Sending A1 06:19:13 cmd2payld: cmd=XA1, hc=0, uc=0, payld=080000ff 04/30/06 06:19:13 AM Sending A2AK 06:19:13 cmd2payld: cmd=XA2AK, hc=0, uc=1, payld=130001ff 04/30/06 06:19:13 AM Sending A3 06:19:13 cmd2payld: cmd=XA3, hc=0, uc=2, payld=080002ff 04/30/06 06:19:13 AM Sending AK (--> This line is wrong)06:19:13 cmd2payld: cmd=XAK, hc=, uc=, payld=080000ff If I understand the problem correctly, the issue is that the group object can also send the action only instead of a pair. This will definitely cause the module to produce incorrect behavior. I will look into how to modify the module to accommodate the "action only" if that is what the other devices really provide. Please let me know if this is what is necessary. Thanks in advance Joe Blecher -----Original Message----- From: misterhouse-users-admin@... Subject: Re: [mh] Lynx10PLC The problem with the Lynx10PLC misterhouse module, as David Mark pointed out, is it expects X10 commands to come in pairs as in A1AJ, A1AK, and A1AL. In X10 the address (A1) is sent as a separate transmission, so X10 commands usually come in pairs, but not always. The group object can generate X10 command strings of any length. For example, AO is a single command, and A1A2AJ is three. Although David's changes to Serial_Item might work, the right way to fix this is to rework the Lynx10PLC module so it accepts one command at a time like the CM11, Ocelot, TI103, Insteon and some others do. The Serial_Item module already breaks X10 strings into individual commands. I personally use %Save to save state etc. It is an easy way to get information , and I found it very useful. I think we should keep it, not because I use it, but because misterhouse is not an Internet application. It is nice to see your interface from the web, but there is many way to access the system via the Internet and keep MH secure. If misterhouse would have been built to be a secure interface, we would 1st, have secure connection. Also, $Save might only be the tip of the iceberg, and there is probably many more security holes.
