Ron, And by the way, I'm game in helping make an interface module to use snackamp, if you want to (the UI stays the same, but the backend changes depending on the player ) On Wed, 2004-08-04 at 23:37, Ron Sparks wrote: > I am just now getting a chance to play with mh so be kind - I am a newbie. > > One of the main functions I need to implement (to sufficiently impress > wifey ;-) ) is to be able to have a nice web interfaced media player for > her to use. Ron, Only have a minute so .... Just tossed a couple of Snapshots up on my web (png's) I think they may answer most of your questions. As for the server side Winamp (for win), and XMMS (for *Nix) are currently supported On Wed, 2004-08-04 at 23:37, Ron Sparks wrote: > I am just now getting a chance to play with mh so be kind - I am a newbie. > > One of the main functions I need to implement (to sufficiently impress > wifey ;-) ) is to be able to have a nice web interfaced media player for > her to use. I am just now getting a chance to play with mh so be kind - I am a newbie. One of the main functions I need to implement (to sufficiently impress wifey ;-) ) is to be able to have a nice web interfaced media player for her to use. The ability to have queue handling, jukebox style playlists, and remote web control are a must. I have recently been using with Snackamp (http://snackamp.sourceforge.net/index_features.html) which is a tcl based player that nicely handles the basics, has web remote features, and will handle my very large music collection. Two questions arise: 1. Does the mh mp3 player have a web interface and large playlist features so that I don't need another media player (sorry, I couldn't find it in the docs)? 2. If the mh mp3 player is limited, how would I implement a fork so that mh and the tcl player could use the same soundcard output? I could do it with a hardware mixer and separate soundcards, but that seems inelegant and not as flexible. This also prevents me from my later projects. In one I would extract "now playing" info and send it to a video overlay to put on top of my security cameras and weather page info. I have done the overlays and image switching in the past for my ham radio ATV projects so that poses no problem as long as I can get the media player, mh, and my video handler all on the same linux box. While I am at it, I was also wondering if anyone has used MythTV (http://www.mythtv.org/) and linked it to mh through the tivo functions? I would sure appreciate guidance on how to approach the media player aspects with mh. Thanks for your help, Ron |
