Lieven, Wow, what amazing energy you have. Thank you. I'm working my way through the first level of pages that were below the wikispaces homepage. Some fixing will be required, but it looks rather manageable to me. Best regards, Lieven. I understand and appreciate your reasoning to keep the wiki on wikispaces up for another 'x' months. On the other hand: I think that the fact that we know the wiki would disappear in a month if we don't pay for it will only make the drive to bring up the alternative stronger :-) > > I do think there are only a few places where we need to change the links to the wiki, and we have access to those web pages (the sourceforge site can be adapted as far as I know). After a year, anyone who still lands there is not going to be lost, just in need of another google search. Also, it's possible that "things happen" will get in the way; no need to have the wiki deleted from under us. BTW I have never used it > > > > I hope "someone" will make the change to the documentation links when needed. > > > > If you want me to pick this up, let me know what to do next. Think about this, and if preserving the wikispaces site for another year seems worthwhile, I will do it. I appreciate how much work everyone has done, especially the last year, and this is a way I can pay back. Maybe, someday, I'll actually run MisterHouse again. I still have x10 and 1-wire hardware around, though it is getting crufty (technical term of art). > > > > Best wishes, > > > > Carl Friedberg > > www.comets.com > > car...@co... > > http://about.me/carl.friedberg > > > > From: Lieven Hollevoet [mailto:li...@li...] > > Sent: Monday, September 22, 2014 11:47 AM > > To: Jim Serack > > Cc: Carl Friedberg; The main list for the MisterHouse home automation program; Timothy Spaulding > > Subject: Re: [mh] Change required for misterhouse.wikispaces.com > > > > Hey Jim, > > > > Op 22-sep.-2014, om 17:32 heeft Jim Serack <ji...@se...> het volgende geschreven: > > > > > > Does the github wiki offer the same functionality? > > > > Depends on what you're after of course. Everybody with a github account is currently able to edit the github wiki (https://github.com/hollie/misterhouse/wiki). This can be limited, but I'm in favor of open access. We haven't had any problems with this since we started the github repo for MisterHouse. > > > > > > Any estimates on the effort to move to github (ie are there pointers in MH that would have to change?) > > > > That I don't know, my first attempt would be to try to import the HTML dump of the current wikispace wiki into a test wiki on github to see if this works. I have no view on what MisterHouse pointer would need to change. I do know that the wikispaces page is top on the google hits when you search for MisterHouse. So it will take some work to redirect this to the new wiki. At least the link to the wiki on http://misterhouse.sourceforge.net would need to be changed. > > > > Kind regards, > > Lieven. > > > > > > I would definitely vote for moving the content together. > > > > Also - wasn't someone starting some better documentation workstream - it would seem that most of what was on the wiki would be better suited to some documentation path anyhow. > > > > From: Lieven Hollevoet [mailto:li...@li...] > > Sent: Monday, September 22, 2014 10:20 AM > > To: Carl Friedberg > > Cc: The main list for the MisterHouse home automation program; Timothy Spaulding; Jim Serack > > Subject: Re: [mh] Change required for misterhouse.wikispaces.com > > > > Hello, > > > > to give you a size indication: the uncompressed archive of the complete wiki is a 17 MB. Of this there are 2 files of 3 MB of which I'm not sure it is worth keeping them. So the total size is actually around 10 MB. The lowest paid option should suffice. > > > > Kind regards, > > Lieven. > > > > > > Op 22-sep.-2014, om 15:52 heeft Carl Friedberg <fri...@co...> het volgende geschreven: > > > > > > > > Hi, > > Do we need 3gb or 5gb? $50/year seems manageable.
