Sorry to hear about your failed PLM. Hope the warranty claim process 
goes smoothly. Let us know what you get this time.

Regarding your USB modem question, I have been using a 2413U (USB-based 
PLM) with no problems that I am aware of. I seem to experience bit 
corruption every now and then, as I've mentioned here before and in the 
Smarthome forums, but I believe that is completely unrelated to the PLM.
