Briefly, I have had X10 since the 80's and wanted to upgrade slowly to something more reliable. Two years ago I tried Insteon but had problems with reliability with my existing X10 devices with both systems in place. I also was disapointed with the only thing RF was the link between the two power phases. After a couple of weeks I sent the Insteon equipment back and then last year settled on Z-Wave. I am using Leviton's RZC0P for serial to Z-Wave and the rest is Intermatic for lamp controllers and remotes. Many thanks to David Satterfield for the driver and help with getting it going. My big complaint with the Intermatic lamp controllers is that you have to reach down to the button on the top of it to manually control the lights, but it hasn't been much of an issue. Other than that it has been very reliable. Budget constraints are all that is keeping me from getting rid of my final X10 modules. Anyway, go with what works for you. Chris |
