That's cool. I think we all want what is best for the project as a = whole. I'd never want Flash to be the default for MH, but in terms of an = interface's usage across the board, the ia5 has already knocked that one = out - just try using it on something that doesn't support inline frames. = AJAX has problems too on older hardware. I am fortunate enough to have a = Cingular 8125 through work and it runs pretty much anything you can = throw at it, Flash apps, AJAX code .NET or almost anything else. I am a huge fan of AJAX and what can be done and I too like GD. I don't = think the relative values will work because as you stretch and/or shrink = an image too much it starts to look jagged and ugly. As you said, there = are 100s of ways to do it; we just need to find the best for the = majority. Maybe multiple copies of the same image are best - perhaps two = sets that can each cover a 25% increase and reduction in size with out = too much degradation. That should allow for a broader range of client = resolutions without too much effort.=20 As a side note, I seem to remember that Brent's interface used alpha = channel PNGs which look beautiful but I believe still don't render = correctly on MS IE and require you to use Firefox. BTW, I'm not seeing my own posts - I can see the replies, but not my = originals? Whatsupwitdat? It's a world of possibilities, we allready use GD, and what if you could specify the wanted resoloution in the MH? or just use relative values(%)? There is 100's of options, i'm just putting in my two cents on this one, because flash isn't the way to go i think (atleast there was mingw if that's what it was called PHP/flash Remember we want misterhouse to work on everything, all clients possible, flash is widely supported but on pda's and cell phones i'd disable flash right . Many issues, speed(e.g download time/size) Just saying, a flash interface could've been ok, but it shouldn't be a default, better to use the time on a AJAX page with relative values and for instance GD :-) (i like gd) My two cents, just had to kick em in :-) =20 =20 Confidentiality Notice: This e-mail message, including any attachments, = is for the sole use of the intended recipient(s) and may contain = material that is confidential, privileged and/or attorney work product. = Any unauthorized review; usage, reliance, disclosure or distribution by = others or forwarding without express permission is strictly prohibited. = If you are not the intended recipient, please contact the sender by = reply e-mail and delete and destroy all copies of the original message. = Thank You. |
