Has anyone on the list done a homebrew pbx and/or controlled misterhouse with their in-home telephones? I don't have MH installed yet, but am kicking around ideas for doing this. What I'm thinking is that I have a telephone in every room, so it could be a convenient interface to my future MH-enabled PC. For example, I pick up the phone and hit 7 for misterhouse operations. Then another dialcode for "all lights on" or even speech recognition for "lights on". If I hit 9 instead of 7, it's outbound dialing as usual. Or something like that. Any thoughts? It seems like this could be done fairly inexpensively with some of the newer soft-modems. My laptop modem (which I never bothered to make work in Linux) is now detected as an Alsa sound device. With a little poking around I could probably learn how to make it go on and off-hook, or record my phone calls. Thanks for any discussion or ideas. -Rob -- Robert W. Brewer |
