There's AGI scripts. (AGI is like CGI scripts for apache but for Asterisk.) I wrote a script for my Asterisk box (called from extensions.conf) that fired off a UDP packet to the broadcast address of my network every time I got a call. Then I had MH receive the UDP packet and send me an ICQ about the call. It should have been easy to have MH fire off a voice command instead of sending an ICQ.. (DOH! I just looked, and I didn't save it when I rebuilt my Asterisk box. Sorry!) I've read (not done it yet..) that you can use AGI scripts and basically tie it to STDIN of the perl script. (I believe they used festival TTS to read the text out put from the script and sent numbers the user dials into the perl script.) At that point, you can do anything PERL can do.. :) Since you can do menus in extensions.conf, you should be able to do.. Press 1 for current temp Press 2 to set current temp Then call the different AGI scripts.. to read or set the scripts.
