Give us a little more detail on how far "Electrically" the garage is from the house. I have many X10 modules, Organized as House Code A = 1/2 Downstairs B = other half C = Upstairs E= Misc Electrical such as Mr. Coffee and Christmas Lights O = Outside East P = Outside West I betcha that you can use straight RS232 to connect to the house if need be. I have used it up to 300'. (I know that is against the rules) Don't send X10 On/Off every 2 seconds, wait about 3 or 4. There is 10 Test code in the CodeCommon directory to do what you want, just change the time. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Neil Wrightson" <nwr...@bi...> To: <mis...@li...> Sent: Thursday, January 29, 2004 1:09 AM Subject: [misterhouse-users] X10 Problems in Australia Hi, Sorry about the long winded message, but I'm new to X10. Overview (For Australian residence) I have a few X10 kits from DSE that comprise of 2 * Appliance modules (AM12AU), 2 * Lamp modules (LM12AU), 1 * Socket Module. 1 * Computer Interface (CM12AU) 2 * RF Transceiver Module (TM13AU) 2 * RF Remote Controls Problem My MH box is in the garage, a short distance from the house (15 feet/5m). Using MH or the app that came with the above kits, I can turn on/off the above modules, but I'm unable to control the same modules when they are in the house. I also note, that I need to use the two transceiver modules modules in the house to control appliance modules in separate areas. Notes 1. Mains supply is 240VAC 50Hz. This is what the AUS X10 equipment is made for. 2. I'm only running on a single phase. 3. The Active wire is at 240VAC relative to Earth and Neutral. 4. I have a common neutral point for the whole house and garage. 5. The incoming active goes to three separate circuit breakers. Basically these are only switches. X10 should go straight through. 3. All modules use the same House Address. Questions 1. I not that on the MH list some people have over 40 X10 units in their house (must have lots of money :)). How are these units all addressed ? are multiple house codes used ? 2. What is the comms parameters between the CM12AU and the PC ? I.e. baud rate etc. and what RS232 handshaking lines are used? If need be I could move the CM12 into the house by extending the serial comms from the MH PC. I would probably extend this with RS485 to get the distance without corrupting the signal. 3. Does anybody else in Australia use X10. 4. Does anybody have sample code two turn an X10 output on/off every 2 seconds. This would allow me to plug a small light into a appliance module and walk it around the house looking for dead spots. No flash, No go. Or is this update rate to fast for X10 to work? Thanks for any help, Regards, Neil Wrightson. ------------------------------------------------------- The SF.Net email is sponsored by EclipseCon 2004 Premiere Conference on Open Tools Development and Integration See the breadth of Eclipse activity.
