You might want to check to see if your machine is listed for reverse DNS lookup. If you are using a cable modem in your house, chances are not likely that this will be the case. I had an issue where the mailserver I was trying to contact would timeout (or take 5 minutes to respond) because it was trying to perform a reverse DNS lookup. Also check that your DNS suffix matches your ISP's DNS suffix. If you had at home and moved to at&t's service, you may still be configured as <whatever your machine name is>.home.com it should be the new AT&T dns suffix there. Hope that helps out -Don >From: Craig Schaeffer <csc...@ya...> >To: Misterhouse-Users <mis...@li...> >Subject: [misterhouse-users] problem w/sprint pcs paging >Date: Wed, 16 Jan 2002 07:49:57 -0800 (PST) > >Is anybody else having problems sending alpha pages to sprint pcs phones? >For >the last week or so I have been getting the following: > >send_sprint_pcs: Unable to log into mail server >www.messaging.sprintpcs.com: >Net >::SMTP: Timeout > >The timeout is 300 in send_sprint_pcs, but the error occurs within about 20 >seconds.
