Don't feel bad about being confused. I get a bit confused also. We simply have not done enough custom interfaces to have it documented very well. For a limited set of states (e.g. digial IO open/close), a call to check_for_generic_serial_data should set the state of any Serial_Item that matches the incoming data. In the case of arbitrary data, like incoming temperature data, you will need to do your own processing. Once you have captured the data, you can store it in a Generic_Item for easier use. Bruce |
