Is there a way to check if MiniShare functions corrrectly over the Internet without asking someone else to try to reach your MiniShare Server? E.g. with pinging from the Sourceforge website.
And... is there a way to check the proper working (or not) of the adjustments one made to his firewall and router from within MiniShare?
I ask this because Minishare works smoothly witin my home network, but fails to do so ouside, probably because of my firewall and/or my router.
If you would like to refer to this comment somewhere else in this project, copy and paste the following link:
Well, at least one way is to make something like w3.org's HTML validator validate the front page (or any file on the server). That of course is equivalent to a real user file request.
Anything concerning a router, a firewall or any network configuration above the most basic one (that I have) is a bit out of my reach because I can't test the software on such a setup and another reason is that almost always there's something that doesn't work on some people even if I tested it many times (for example, I think it still does the interface binding wrong). So, I decided not to alter anything drastically because that could make that little working bit not work.
