This is a duplicate/followup to 2994456, but I couldn't attach an updated patch to that one so I created a new one instead.

My Samsung BD-C5500 BluRay player reports:
USER-AGENT: SEC_HHP_BD-C5500/1.0

Taking the hint from the patch in 2994456 and modifying it to just look for SEC_HHP_ makes videos in mkv/matroska containers work on my BD-C5500.

However, searching still does not work for any content.

Identify modern Samsung devices for Samsung-workarounds

It seems I spoke too soon regarding the searching, as it indeed works if you press the correct keys.

For some reason Samsung has chosen to not map searching to the standard << and >> keys, but only to the left and right direction keys on the navigation (circular) pad.

I've tested on mpeg, mkv/h264 and avi-files, and searching seems to work.

That patch did it for me! I also have a BD-C5500 and applied it by hand to the latest CVS (wouldn't apply automatically). My player now plays Matroska files without problem where it previously displayed "File format not supported" (even though it played the file(s) perfectly from USB). I recommend this patch be applied for the next release.

Thanks for posting this. It's been added to the CVS repository, and will be incorporated in the next build.
