I've just installed MiniDLNA on ubuntu however I have issues to make it work with my TV (UE32ES5500)… The AllShare player on the TV can see a server and all files however it doesn't want to open any media (pictures, video, audio) giving me following warning: "The selected file is not currently supported". Any ideas how to fix it?
Thanks a million for all help!
dpkg -l | grep minidlna
ii minidlna 1.1.0stedy7lucidubuntu1 ppa-minidlna by stedy
I have the same TV and it compile v1.0.25 from source , along with a few key patches:-
3597818 - Thumbnail support - enables thumbnails
3393898 - support for new(?) Samsung TVs - fixes bookmark problem
Hope that helps..
Wow! …downlading and running the v1.0.25 from sourceforge made a trick! Thanks a million!
Ps. Any clue what was wrong with the version I had originally?
sorry… I am not familiar with Stedy's builds. He may have a different patch set applied..
you could always try asking email@example.com
Glad you got it working !

Ps. Make before applying samsung-series-d.patch works fine
okay.. lets take this a step at a time..
Try installing libffmpegthumbnailer-dev .. I think this will resolve the compile error. See if this works and enables playback of your content through the TV..
as for the 2nd patch error, I would forget that patch for the time being.. I may have mixed it up with another one which I use to fix bookmarks on my TV…
You made my day, it is compiling now!
FYI for others - the last posts were just about the patch as the TV could play media even without it
