    Stefan - 2017-11-12

    Hello all,

I'm using miniDLNA version 1.2.1 (downloaded the source and build it on the machine) on my Ubuntu 16.04.3 LTS server. Every now and then the daemon is dying / disappearing and I can't figure out, why.
    service minidla status outputs

     minidlna.service - LSB: minidlna server
Loaded: loaded (/etc/init.d/minidlna; bad; vendor preset: enabled)
Active: active (exited) since Thu 2017-11-09 18:51:03 CET; 2 days ago
       Docs: man:systemd-sysv-generator(8)
       Tasks: 0
       Memory: 0B
       CPU: 0

I can't find any hints in the syslog and the minidlna log is empty. I just saw and enabled debug logging so maybe this hints at something.

Is there anything else I could check / try?

    Thanks,
    Stefan

1 Week later - same issue again.

     minidlna.service - LSB: minidlna server
Loaded: loaded (/etc/init.d/minidlna; bad; vendor preset: enabled)
Active: active (exited) since Sun 2017-11-12 14:03:22 CET; 6 days ago
         Docs: man:systemd-sysv-generator(8)
        Tasks: 0
       Memory: 0B
          CPU: 0

The logfile is empty but from the monitoring I set up I can see that the web interface on port 8200 stopped working at 06:25 - the same time the logs were rotated:

    -rw-r--r-- 1 minidlna minidlna 0 Nov 19 06:25 minidlna.log
    -rw-r--r-- 1 minidlna minidlna 752K Nov 19 06:24 minidlna.log.1

The syslog does nowhere mention anything related to minidlna and neither does the minidlna log.
Should I report it as a bug?

    Thanks,
    Stefan

I just raised a ticket: https://sourceforge.net/p/minidlna/bugs/313/ since I figured out I can trigger the issue via service minidlna rotate

Seek support from a systemd forum. systemd is complicating something that should be simple. Let them support it.

I have same issue with Minidlna. I'm using version 1.2.1 on my EspressoBin (Armbian) and between night, minidlna disappears in known devices on my TV, and I have to restart whole EspressoBin, or restart service after connection to it via SSH.

    Weird thinks happend:
When Minidlna is freezed on Armbian and I start my home PC, where I have configured another media server - "Serviio" http://serviio.org/
That minidlna on Armbian has been refreshed (restarted) by own and I can see Minidlna from Armbian connection in my Samsung TV. Which is little bit weird.
