    Will - 2011-02-25

    Hi,

Not sure what is going on but MiniDLNA is now failing to start, even after I reboot.

    Show shows:

    [2011/02/24 20:08:48] minidlna.c:839: warn: Starting MiniDLNA version 1.0.19 [SQLite 3.7.2].
    [2011/02/24 20:08:48] minissdp.c:98: error: bind(udp): Address already in use
[2011/02/24 20:08:48] minidlna.c:919: fatal: Failed to open socket for receiving SSDP. EXITING
    [2011/02/24 20:12:16] minidlna.c:839: warn: Starting MiniDLNA version 1.0.19 [SQLite 3.7.2].
    [2011/02/24 20:12:16] minissdp.c:98: error: bind(udp): Address already in use
[2011/02/24 20:12:16] minidlna.c:919: fatal: Failed to open socket for receiving SSDP. EXITING

    Thanks,

    Will

That means that another process is bound to port 1900 and is not set up to share that port.  You should be able to check who it is by running "netstat -nlp | grep 1900".

O.K Thanks for that, turns out Hamachi2 @ https://secure.logmein.com/US/labs/ uses port 1900 as well.

So how do I change the port that miniDLNA uses? I though port=8200 in config file would do it? Guess not?

    Bug in Hamachi2 ?

MiniDLNA's HTTP port uses port 8200 by default.  But 1900 is the standard SSDP port (used for discovery).  If you start minidlna before Hamachi2, it should work because minidlna will share the port.  But Hamachi2 should probably be setting the SO_REUSEADDR socket option on the SSDP port.

OK, thanks for that. So indeed it's a bug on there part.

    Thanks!

Well, it's a bit if a grey area whether that would be considered a bug or not.  Ideally, systems would have just one process sending and receiving SSDP requests, and all other programs that need to do SSDP would go through that one program.  But that's not realistic today.
