Samsung Allshare "What's New" ??

Hi. I am using minidlna 1.0.25 patched to provide thumbnails and generate MTA files on the fly which works very well with my UE32ES5500 tv.

There is however, one area that would further improve the experience. When launching the "Allshare Play" application on the TV, there are three sections; 1) Recently Viewed, 2) What's New and 3) Playlists.. The recently viewed section shows items that have been watched via DNLA okay, but the "What's new" section is empty…

Ideally I would like to see files that have been recently added to minidlna appear under "what's new"..

    Is this possible?

I see the following request in minidlna.log when entering the application on TV…

    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?><s:Envelope s:encodingStyle="" xmlns:s=""><s:Body><u:X_GetSemanticList xmlns:u="urn:schemas-upnp-org:service:ContentDirectory:1"><SemanticQueryRequest>MACRO_RECENTLYADDED_ALL</SemanticQueryRequest><StartingIndex>0</StartingIndex><RequestedCount>1</RequestedCount></u:X_GetSemanticList></s:Body></s:Envelope>
    upnphttp.c:735: debug: SOAPAction: urn:schemas-upnp-org:service:ContentDirectory:1#X_GetSemanticList
    upnpsoap.c:1696: debug: SoapMethod: X_GetSemanticList
    upnpsoap.c:1708: warn: SoapMethod: Unknown: X_GetSemanticList
upnpsoap.c:1756: warn: Returning UPnPError 401: Invalid Action
    upnphttp.c:1285: debug: HTTP RESPONSE: HTTP/1.1 500 Internal Server Error^M

Could minidlna be patched to respond to this?

    Any ideas??

That´s next on my backlog ;).

I think that this is related to extra information that has to be sent on dcInfo field of the Browse command (e.g. CREATIONTIME).

I'd be interested in heIping with code / testing…

I am doing a little hacking on this right now using wireshark. .. and have some code that can populate the what's new section… although there are some issues that need resolving…

let me know when it's top of your list of things to do..

That´s a cool feature but, and the users of the non samsung devices? Is it possible to add some kind of "virtual folders" (or video playlists) on minidlna? Just adding new "inotified" files in this playlist should be the trick! Better if the video is "auto removed" after playing. (-:

Yeah. I agree, it would be really cool to have some virtual folders that are populated dynamically with the latest content, or most viewed, or not watched etc… but to be honest,  it's probably beyond my skills right now.. perhaps its best to log a feature request and maybe someone will pick it up….
