Hi, this patch is not supported by minidlna. It was a proposal but I've got no comment from the maintainer. Anyway, I´ve just uploaded the v2 that should apply normally.

I applied the patch v2 without error and I enabled thumbnail creation at compile time in minidlna.conf but when I ry to start minidlna I get error:

    root@thx-ubuntu:/home/thx/Downloads/minidlna-1.0.25# sudo service minidlna force-reload
    * Restarting DLNA/UPnP-AV media server minidlna
    parsing error file /etc/minidlna.conf line 70 : enable_thumbnail=yes
    parsing error file /etc/minidlna.conf line 73 : thumbnail_width=160
    parsing error file /etc/minidlna.conf line 76 : thumbnail_quality=8

ok, could you send me the link to the source code you are using and the commands list? I´ll try to reproduce it here.

I'm trying to start minidlna with this command:
    # sudo service minidlna force-reload

The errors reading the config file mean that the thumbnail support was not compiled. Please get the tar.gz file from the souce forge and send me step by step how are you compiling. Also, before you compile, make sure you have libffmpegthumbnailer installed on the environment.

Sorry for delay, after reinstalling ubuntu 12.10, the patch is applying perfectly and the thumbnails are created for all videos.
Thumbnail creation should be enabled in the next minidlna version.
