Update MinGW Installers and Compilers

mingw-get version 0.1-alpha-5.1 has been released. This version of the mingw-get command-line installer and installation management program fixes issues related to dependency resolution when upgrading packages.

mingw-get-inst version 20110211 has been released. It includes the latest version of mingw-get (0.1-alpha-5.1) and a more recent snapshot of the package manifest data (2011 Feb 11). mingw-get-inst is a graphical installer that can be used for INITIAL installation of MinGW compilers and MSYS tools (upgrading an existing installation should be done using the command line mingw-get tool). In fact, mingw-get-inst is merely a simple GUI wrapper around the command line tool.... read more

MSYS 1.0.11 Released

After a few years of development, the MinGW team is proud to announce the immediate availability of MSYS Version 1.0.11.

From the MinGW Home Page:
MSYS, a contraction of "Minimal SYStem", is a Bourne Shell command line interpreter system. Offered as an alternative to Microsoft's cmd.exe, this provides a general purpose command line environment, which is particularly suited to use with MinGW, for porting of many Open Source applications to the MS-Windows platform; it includes a small selection of Unix tools, chosen to facilitate that objective, and using it is a necessary prerequisite for building mingwPORTs.... read more

New tool: cpmake-3.81 for MSYS

`cpmake', a case-preserving variant of GNU Make, tries to be a compromise between a full case-insensitive Make and a full case-sensitive one. When searching for file names in the
filesystem, a case insensitive match will be performed, but only if a case sensitive match is not found first. In a related change, `cpmake' avoids normalizing targets and file names to lowercase, i.e. `cpmake' is internally case-preserving as well.

Updated: gcc-3.4.5-20060117-3

Another updated release of GCC 3.4.5 is available. As with the previous 3.4.5 Vista releases, the only substantial change from the original 3.4.5-20060117-1 release is Windows Vista compatibility. The binaries included should run on any version of Windows previously supported (typically beginning with Windows 95) up through Windows Vista.

This release fixes bugs seen in the previous two Vista-fixed GCC 3.4.5 releases:
* Searching for paths on drive D: (gcc-3.4.5-20060117-1-vista)
* Unable to find subprograms (errors like CreateProcess: No such file or directory) (gcc-3.4.5-20060117-2)
This release should be functionally identical to 3.4.5-20060117-1 and 3.4.5-20060117-2 for anyone who is not running Windows Vista. For Vista users, it should be functionally identical to 3.4.5-20060117-1 under previous versions of Windows (i.e. no Vista-specific bugs should remain).... read more

MinGW: Updated: gcc-3.4.5 with Vista fix

MinGW: A native Win32 port of the GNU Compiler Collection (GCC), with freely distributable import libraries and header files for building native Windows applications; includes extensions to the MSVC runtime to support C99 functionality.

An updated release of GCC 3.4.5 is available, which incorporates a fix for the Windows Vista access() bug. Look for tarballs with "-vista" appended in the gcc-3.4.5 release of the GCC Version 3 package on the SF download page. In addition to the six language packages, there are two other files pertinent to this release: gcc-3.4.5-vista-build.sh, which is the script used to build GCC, and gcc-3.4.5-vista_diffs.tar.gz, which contains a diff of gcc/version.c (necessitated by a change to the version string).... read more
