On a personal note, a couple of thing:
Happy New Year (the way I figure it, my statute of limitations on
being able to make such greeting in a timely way runs out just about
today ;-) to everyone!, except "Sauron" [who seems to have headed back
to his hidey-hole in Mordor for good anyway] ;-)
I have been perhaps inconspicuously not present on the List since
mid-December due to taking an extended Holiday away in warm places, but
I am back now (<knocking on wood for aversion of ill-chance>). My
personal news also includes the item that I have moved past years of
hesitation and fooling around and finally acquired ownership of a P-IV
laptop running Debian GNU/Linux :-) :-) :-).
Not that I intend to imply that the compleat MinGW developer must run
a Linux box somewhere, but in my case, with my cross-interests in
contributing to MinGW, Cygwin and cross-platform Open-Source software,
it makes sense and will be of great assistance in the cases where I
might propose a patch or write a tool intended for cross-platform
general use. I'll be able to test stuff myself on a highly standardized
platform rather than occasionally having to beg others to beta-test for
me (which hasn't worked out very successfully anyway).
Congrats and salutations on the recent announcements of updated binutils
(Danny) and libtool (Chuck). It's going to be a good year to be a MinGW
developer! Maybe I'll actually get gtk+ built in 2003 :-) ...
