Hello, I am not sure how to install and what pieces I need to install. After some reading, I installed the following pieces in this order: MSYS-1.0.8.exe msysDTK-1.0.0.exe MinGW-3.0.0-rc3.exe Is this correct? Does the order make any difference? I notice that the first two of these are about 6 months old. What should I do for later versions? Thanks, Bert Douglas |

Does the order make any difference? It is probably easier if you install MinGW before MSYS because this will allow the MSYS installer to create a mapping from "/mingw" to your MinGW directory, so that MinGW can be added to the PATH correctly. If you install in the other order, you just need to add/modify the appropriate line in the /etc/fstab file. > I notice that the first two of these are about 6 months old. You should be able to install the newer versions into the same location as the old ones without problems. Luke |

They are about 6 months old. I didn't see any newer versions. I guess we are both saying the same thing in different ways. Thanks for the help. Bert Douglas. |

Please read what you wrote again. You said you installed MSYS 1.0.8 and msysDTK 1.0.0, not the latest versions I mentioned. MSYS 1.0.9 was released on 10 July according to the download page. Luke |
